About SBI

State Bank of India is a public sector bank and statutory body with its headquarters in Mumbai. Its roots go back to the Bank of Calcutta, set up on 2 June 1806. SBI says it serves over 50 crore customers through more than 23,321 branches.

The Central Recruitment & Promotion Department at the Corporate Centre, Mumbai, issued both advertisements on 2 November 2026. All 10 posts are regular Specialist Cadre jobs. Advertisement 26 adds that they stay in the specialist cadre, with no route into the general cadre.

Posts and vacancies

Advertisement 26 is the larger of the two, with 7 posts in the Product & Research team. Advertisement 27 has 3 Risk Specialist posts. Mumbai is the suggested place of posting for all of them. SBI can still post or transfer you to any office in India.

Each post also carries one PwBD vacancy. It is horizontal, so it sits inside the numbers above. SBI says all vacancy numbers are provisional and may change with its needs.

For Chief Manager and Manager, the PwBD slot is for low vision (VI-LV). The Manager one sits in the backlog row. For Risk Specialist, it is for visually impaired (VI) candidates.

The full pay stages are 102300-2980/4-114220-3360/2-120940 (SMGS-IV) and 85920-2680/5-99320-2980/2-105280 (MMGS-III). For Risk Specialist it is 64820-2340/1-67160-2680/10-93960. DA, HRA, CCA, PF, NPS, LFC and medical facilities are extra. Advertisement 26 sets a 12-month probation. Advertisement 27 refers to the bank’s probation policy.

Eligibility

The two advertisements use different cut-off dates. Advertisement 26 checks age, qualification and experience on 30 September 2026. Advertisement 27 uses 31 October 2026. The experience must be full-time and must come after the basic qualification.

Chief Manager (Product & Research)

  • Age 30 to 40 years.
  • MBA, PGDM, PGDBM, PGDBA or an equivalent degree from an institution recognised by government bodies, AICTE or UGC. SBI prefers a Finance specialisation.
  • CFA, FRM, CA or CMA (erstwhile ICWA) is preferred.
  • At least 7 years of post-qualification experience in Forex and Rupee markets. Corporate and non-corporate firms, research firms, brokerages, banks, NBFCs and mutual funds all count.

Manager (Product & Research Analyst)

  • Age 24 to 36 years.
  • The same degree and preferred certificates as the Chief Manager post.
  • Post-qualification experience of 3 years or more in Equity, Forex or Debt research, in the same kinds of organisations.

Both posts ask for good spoken and written English. Teaching or training experience does not count.

Risk Specialist

  • Age 25 to 35 years.
  • CA, or CFA, or an MBA/PGDM or equivalent degree in Finance, Data Analytics or Business Analytics.
  • FRM from GARP or PRM from PRMIA is preferred.
  • Post-qualification work of 2 years or more on Expected Credit Loss (ECL) modelling. It must be in the risk department of a bank, financial institution, rating agency or brokerage. Risk advisory work at a consulting firm also counts. Internship, teaching and training experience do not count.

The advertisement also lists skills such as Python, R, SPSS or SAS, large datasets, and strong Excel and PowerPoint.

Age relaxation

CategoryRelaxation
OBC (non-creamy layer)3 years
SC/ST5 years
PwBD (UR or EWS / OBC / SC or ST)10 / 13 / 15 years

For advertisement 26, the PwBD relaxation is for low vision (VI-LV) candidates only. Relaxations do not add up across categories. OBC candidates in the creamy layer get no OBC relaxation and must apply as UR. To check your own dates against both cut-offs, try our age calculator for government jobs.

Application fee

General, EWS and OBC candidates pay ₹750 as application fee and intimation charges. SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay nothing. You pay online by debit card, credit card or internet banking, and you bear any transaction charge. SBI does not refund the fee or carry it over to another recruitment.

How to apply

  1. Open SBI’s current openings page and find advertisement CRPD/SCO/2026-27/26 or /27.
  2. Download and read the advertisement. Also download the Biodata form for that advertisement, fill it, sign it and scan it as a PDF. Each advertisement has its own form.
  3. Click Apply Online and register. The system gives you a provisional registration number and password. You can reopen and edit a saved form only three times.
  4. Upload your photo and signature as JPG or JPEG files. The photo should be 20 to 50 KB, about 200 × 230 pixels, on a light background. The signature should be 10 to 20 KB, about 140 × 60 pixels, in black ink. SBI rejects signatures in capital letters.
  5. Upload each document as an A4 PDF of up to 500 KB, scanned at 200 dpi or more.
  6. Check every field, then pay the fee. After payment, no edits are possible. Print the e-receipt and the application form.

Your registration counts only once the fee is paid by 23 November 2026. If the first payment fails, you can try again.

Selection process

SBI runs no written test for these posts. A shortlisting committee sets the criteria and calls an adequate number of candidates. Meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee an interview call.

The interview carries 100 marks, and the bank decides the qualifying marks. The merit list follows interview marks alone. If two candidates tie at the cut-off, the older one ranks higher. SBI emails the interview call letter or uploads it on its website.

For Risk Specialist only, SBI will keep a category-wise wait list. It fills places left by non-joining, resignation or termination. SBI picks from it only candidates who reach the minimum qualifying marks. The list stays valid for one year from the final result. A fresh advertisement for the same post ends it sooner.

Documents

Upload these with the online form:

  • Photo, signature, Biodata form and a detailed or brief resume.
  • ID proof and proof of date of birth.
  • Degree certificate (and mark sheets for Risk Specialist) plus any preferred certificate.
  • Experience certificates. Each must say that you worked in the field the post asks for.
  • Form-16, offer letter or latest salary slip from your current employer.
  • Caste, EWS or PwBD certificate, if it applies.

At the interview, SBI checks every document against the original.

OBC candidates need a non-creamy layer certificate issued between 1 April 2026 and the interview date. The PwBD certificate must be dated on or before the last date of registration.

If you work for a government body, PSU or public sector bank, bring a No Objection Certificate. Advertisement 26 lets you upload it at registration if you already have it. Without it, SBI may reject your candidature and will not pay travel costs.

Important instructions

  • Does your degree leave out your specialisation? Advertisement 26 then asks for a letter from your university or college naming it.
  • Outstation candidates get economy airfare by the shortest route. The cap is ₹10,000 to and fro or the actual fare, whichever is lower. You must submit the flight tickets or invoice and the boarding pass. Candidates found ineligible at the interview get no fare.
  • You must disclose any pending criminal case at the interview. The bank may also check police records.
  • On selection, you must produce a discharge or relieving certificate from your current employer.
  • You cannot change your category after you register.
  • SBI says it has no tie-up with any coaching platform or consultant that promises selection.

Fresh graduates without work experience can look at the SBI Junior Associate clerk recruitment instead. Other openings are on our bank jobs page. Officer jobs in regional rural banks go through the IBPS RRB Officer Scale exams.

Frequently asked questions

What is the last date for SBI SCO 2026 (Advt 26 and 27)?

Online registration and fee payment for both advertisements run from 2 to 23 November 2026. SBI asks candidates not to wait for the last day, because the site can slow down under heavy load.

Is there a written exam for these SBI Specialist Officer posts?

No. Both advertisements select through shortlisting and an interview of 100 marks. The merit list uses interview marks only.

Can I apply for both Chief Manager and Manager?

Yes. Advertisement 26 says an eligible candidate may apply for both posts. Within one post, SBI keeps only your last completed application and forfeits the fee on the others.

What is the age limit for SBI Risk Specialist?

25 to 35 years on 31 October 2026. OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates get 3 more years, SC/ST 5, and PwBD 10 to 15 depending on category.

What is the salary of SBI Manager (Product & Research Analyst)?

The post is in MMGS-III with a basic pay scale of ₹85,920 to ₹1,05,280. DA, HRA, CCA, PF, NPS, LFC and medical facilities come on top, as per the bank's rules.

Does SBI pay travel costs for the interview?

Outstation candidates get economy airfare by the shortest route, up to ₹10,000 to and fro or the actual cost, whichever is lower. You must submit the flight tickets or invoice and the boarding pass. Local taxi or car costs are not covered.
