FAQ
On which date is age counted?
Every notification names a cut-off date for age. Your age must be within the limit on that date, not on the day you apply.
How much relaxation do OBC and SC/ST candidates get?
Most central recruitments (SSC, RRB, IBPS) add 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST and 10 years for PwBD (13 with OBC, 15 with SC/ST) to the upper limit. State rules can differ, and the table in the notification is final.
What does "18 to 27 years" mean?
Central notifications print a date-of-birth range. In SSC CHSL 2026, 18 to 27 on 1 August 2026 means born between 2 August 1999 and 1 August 2008. So you must have turned 18 but not yet 27 on the cut-off date. Always match your date of birth against the printed range.
