Eligibility
You need two things: an education qualification and a sports record from the last two years.
For Head Constable (GD), you need 10+2 from a recognised board. Your sports record must be one of these:
- International: you represented India in a recognised competition, cleared by the Sports Ministry.
- National: you won a top-three place for a state or UT at the National Games or a national championship.
- University: first or second in an individual Inter University event, or a team that reached the final.
- Junior: gold or silver at a junior national championship of a recognised federation.
For Constable (GD), Class 10 is enough. The sports bar is lower, too:
- State: you represented a state at a senior or junior national championship.
- School: a top-three finish for your state school team at the SGFI national school games.
- Khelo India: a top-three finish for a state or UT at the University, Youth or Winter Games.
- University: you represented your university in an Inter University tournament.
The medal or participation must fall between 30 September 2024 and 30 September 2026. You must hold the certificate and your pass certificate by 11 November 2026. Results awaited do not count.
District-level medals do not count. The Department of Sports must also recognise the federation that ran your event.
In a Delhi High Court case over the ITBP sports quota, this point decided the case. Junior National volleyball medallists were turned away because their federation lacked that recognition (W.P.(C) 11115/2023, decided 28 November 2024). Check your federation’s status before you apply.
Age limit and relaxation
You must be 18 to 23 years old on 1 August 2026. That means a birth date between 2 August 2003 and 1 August 2008. Para 5 of the English advertisement prints January instead of August for both dates. Para 4 and the Hindi advertisement both say August, which matches the cut-off date.
Every candidate here is a sportsperson, so CRPF adds 5 years for all of them:
| Category | Relaxation | Upper age |
|---|---|---|
| Unreserved | 5 years | 28 |
| OBC (NCL) | 8 years | 31 |
| SC/ST | 10 years | 33 |
| Ex-servicemen (UR / OBC / SC/ST) | 8 / 11 / 13 years | After deducting military service |
Departmental candidates with three years of continuous service get up to 5 years, plus the SC/ST or OBC addition. Want to test your own dates? Use our age calculator for government jobs. The base rules for each category are in our guide to age relaxation in central jobs.
Application fee
Male candidates from the UR, OBC and EWS categories pay ₹100. You pay it online on rect.crpf.gov.in, and CRPF rejects any other payment mode. Women of every category, SC/ST candidates and ex-servicemen pay nothing. CRPF does not refund the fee or carry it over to another recruitment.
How to apply
- Open rect.crpf.gov.in and register with an active mobile number and email. CRPF sends every update by SMS or email.
- In your profile, upload the certificate for your highest medal or highest level of participation. CRPF rejects the application at scrutiny without it.
- Fill the form and choose your post and your sport or event. Write your name, date of birth and parents’ names exactly as in your Class 10 certificate.
- Pay ₹100 online if your category has to pay, then submit before 11:59 pm on 11 November 2026.
- CRPF opens a correction window from 12 to 14 November 2026. The advertisement does not list which fields you can edit. It also says requests to change personal particulars will not be entertained, so check those before you submit.
You may apply for one post only. CRPF rejects every application from a candidate who submits more than one. A blurred photo or signature also leads to rejection.
Selection process
There is no written exam. CRPF admits eligible candidates in this order:
- Identity check with Aadhaar-based biometrics.
- Document verification with every original certificate.
- Physical standards test (height and chest).
- Sports trial test in your discipline, run by a board of officers.
- Detailed medical exam for candidates within the vacancies in merit order. If declared unfit, you can ask for a review medical exam by signing the Annexure-P consent within 24 hours.
The trial test is pass or fail. Fail it and you are out, but passing adds no marks. CRPF may also run a dope test on the trial day. Your rank comes only from the marks of your single best certificate:
| Competition | Gold | Silver | Bronze | Participation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Olympic Games | 100 | 96 | 92 | 80 |
| World Championship / World Cup | 90 | 86 | 82 | 70 |
| Asian Games / Commonwealth Games | 80 | 76 | 72 | 60 |
| Asian or Commonwealth Championship | 70 | 66 | 62 | 50 |
| Youth Olympic Games | 60 | 56 | 52 | 40 |
| Youth/Junior World Championship | 55 | 51 | 47 | 35 |
| Youth/Junior Asian or Commonwealth Championship | 50 | 46 | 42 | 30 |
| SAF Games, or a Sports Ministry recognised international event with at least 7 countries, backed by a national medal | 40 | 36 | 32 | 26 |
| National Games / Senior National, individual | 30 | 26 | 22 | 12 |
| National Games / Senior National, team | 26 | 22 | 18 | 8 |
| Junior National, Inter University, SGFI, Khelo India University/Youth Games, individual | 20 | 16 | 12 | 6 |
| Junior National, Inter University, SGFI, Khelo India University/Youth Games, team | 16 | 12 | 8 | 4 |
Two medals at the same meet still earn the marks of one. On equal marks with similar international records, the better national record decides. If that still ties, the older candidate goes higher. After that, alphabetical order in English decides.
Physical standards
| Male | Female | |
|---|---|---|
| Height | 170 cm | 157 cm |
| Chest | 80 cm, 5 cm expansion | Not measured |

| ST candidates of the North-East states | 157 / 147.5 cm | 76 cm |

Each relaxation needs a certificate in the Annexure-I format, shown at the PST.
For the eyes, you need 6/6 and 6/9 distance vision without glasses. Colour blindness, knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins and squint lead to rejection.

Important instructions
