What SSC announced
SSC held the Constable (GD) 2026 computer based exam from 27 April to 30 May 2026. A total of 21,56,776 candidates sat it. The posts are in BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP and the Secretariat Security Force (SSF). Assam Rifles fills Rifleman (GD) posts through it too.
On 12 October 2026, SSC published the shortlist for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST). The official result write-up (PDF) has the cut-off for every state, category and area. The exam notice put the tentative vacancies at 25,487. It says SSC will shortlist about eight times as many candidates as vacancies. SSF may get more.
Shortlisted candidates by gender
| Group | EWS | SC | ST | OBC | UR | ESM | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Women, state-wise seats | 1,344 | 2,149 | 1,774 | 3,453 | 7,039 | 23 | 15,782 |
| Men, state-wise seats (not SSF) | 16,296 | 27,215 | 16,546 | 41,400 | 78,459 | 1,335 | 1,81,251 |
| Men, SSF (all-India) | 30 | 45 | 30 | 90 | 150 | 30 | 375 |
By our count, that makes 1,81,626 men and 1,97,408 candidates in all. The write-up lists the three groups separately and gives no grand total.
The UR columns include reserved candidates who scored at the UR level. Among the 78,459 UR men, 36,548 applied as OBC, 9,474 as EWS, 8,434 as SC and 6,100 as ST. In the women’s UR figure, 3,086 are OBC, 789 EWS, 693 SC and 685 ST.
SSC withheld 60 results for various reasons (List-III) and 3 more because of court cases. It did not process the results of 88 debarred candidates (List-IV).
SSF cut-off (men, all-India)
SSF fills its posts from one national merit list, so it has a single cut-off per category. Marks are out of 160, normalised, with NCC bonus added.
| Category | Shortlisted | Cut-off | Last candidate’s date of birth |
|---|---|---|---|
| UR | 150 | 146.17817 | 14-12-2005 |
| OBC | 90 | 145.55766 | 07-10-2004 |
| EWS | 30 | 144.20658 | 21-03-2005 |
| SC | 45 | 140.95414 | 14-08-2006 |
| ST | 30 | 135.03155 | 08-08-2003 |
| ESM | 30 | 100.52099 | 21-02-1991 |
State-wise cut-off for men (general area)
The other forces fill seats state by state, so your own state’s row matters more. Below are rounded figures for ten states. Annexure-II of the write-up (pages 11 to 18) has every state.
| State | UR | OBC | EWS | SC | ST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uttar Pradesh | 126.14 | 126.13 | 124.67 | 120.62 | 117.17 |
| Rajasthan | 126.84 | 127.55 | 120.82 | 118.36 | 119.94 |
| Haryana | 122.17 | 121.95 | 121.46 | 116.74 | None |
| Madhya Pradesh | 120.99 | 125.68 | 116.34 | 115.42 | 101.04 |
| Bihar | 120.61 | 120.44 | 118.02 | 104.60 | 116.58 |

State-wise cut-off for women (general area)
From Annexure-I (pages 5 to 10), rounded:
| State | UR | OBC | EWS | SC | ST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Haryana | 128.42 | 126.72 | 129.34 | 120.21 | None |
| Rajasthan | 127.61 | 127.66 | 121.56 | 116.18 | 118.92 |

| Jharkhand | 118.84 | 121.67 | 112.70 | 108.37 | 110.96 |
| Uttarakhand | 116.98 | 114.50 | 115.00 | 110.19 | None |
| Bihar | 116.03 | 115.98 | 114.81 | 92.92 | 111.33 |
| West Bengal | 103.53 | 98.42 | 83.79 | 94.92 | 93.09 |
| Maharashtra | 98.73 | 97.82 | 91.36 | 97.60 | 88.86 |
“None” means the annexure has no general-area row for that category.
How to read the annexures
- The area column uses the letters G, B and N. The write-up does not define them. We read them as general, border and naxal or militancy affected district, the three area types in para 8.
- SSC first considered naxal or militancy affected district candidates for those seats. Then it considered them for general seats. Border district candidates go to border seats first, then general. A candidate from both kinds of district goes naxal first, then border, then general.
- The minimum qualifying marks are 30% for UR and 25% for OBC and EWS. SC, ST and ESM need 20%. SSC does not add NCC bonus here. Out of 160, that is 48, 40 and 32 marks.
- A cut-off of 48.00000, 40.00000 or 32.00000 with dashes beside it is that minimum mark. SSC used it where it could not shortlist enough candidates for the seats.
- The Part A, B and C columns settle ties. Part A marks decide first, then B, then C. After that, the older candidate ranks higher. The last step is the alphabetical order of names.
- The cut-off column is the normalised score plus any NCC bonus. The paper has four parts of 40 marks each. Part D is English or Hindi.
- NCC bonus marks are 8 for a C certificate, 4.8 for B and 3.2 for A. They went only to candidates who claimed them in the form, and they stay provisional. Ex-servicemen get none. The certificate must be dated on or before 1 January 2026. If you cannot show a valid certificate at document verification, you lose the bonus.
Why your category may show UR
Many candidates who applied as OBC, SC, ST, EWS or ESM found “UR” against their name. On 23 October 2026, SSC said these candidates qualified on the standards set for UR candidates. That is why the lists showed them as UR.
The new List-I and List-II show both categories side by side. SSC says all other terms of the result stay unchanged.
A separate case covers SC, ST and OBC candidates who moved to another state. Those who chose reservation from their home state kept their category. The rest count as UR in their state of domicile. SSC processed 13,231 such candidates under UR. Of these, 246 made the shortlist.
How to check the SSC GD result

- Open ssc.gov.in and go to the Results section.
- Pick Constable (GD) and the 2026 exam.
- Women open List-I. Men for BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP and Assam Rifles open List-II. The write-up names no separate roll list for the 375 SSF men, so watch the Results page.
- Use the dated 23 October 2026 files. List-II is about 27 MB, so it may load slowly on mobile.
- Press Ctrl+F (or “Find in page”) and search your roll number.
Marks and final answer keys will come later on ssc.gov.in, after you log in. The notice allows no re-evaluation.
PET/PST standards in the 2026 notice
| PET race | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
| Candidates not from Ladakh Region | 5 km in 24 minutes | 1.6 km in 8½ minutes |
| Candidates of Ladakh Region | 1.6 km in 7 minutes | 800 metres in 5 minutes |
| PST | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|
| Height, general standard | 170 cm | 157 cm |
| Height, all ST candidates | 162.5 cm | 150 cm |
| Chest (men only) | 80 cm unexpanded, 5 cm expansion | Not measured |
| Chest, ST candidates | 76 cm, 5 cm expansion | Not measured |
The notice also allows lower heights and chests for some groups. These include the North-East states, Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas and the GTA area. Candidates from Assam, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Ladakh also qualify.
Ladakh candidates need 165 cm for men and 155 cm for women. The same applies to Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas, Assam, Himachal Pradesh and J&K. Their male chest standard is 78 cm with 5 cm expansion. Rules for the North-East and GTA differ, so check para 12.5 of the notice.
Women’s chest is not measured, but the board checks that it is well developed.
Weight must suit your height and age. You can appeal a height or chest result the same day, but not the race. The same 170 cm and 157 cm heights apply in the CRPF sports quota Constable (GD) recruitment.
What to carry to the PET/PST
The result notice gives no checklist. Read your CRPF admit card for any further list. The exam notice does name a few items:
- A printout of the PET/PST admission certificate.
- Your ST certificate, if you want the ST height or chest relaxation.
- The Annexure-IX certificate, if you claim any other height or chest relaxation.
- For women, a self-declaration of pregnancy status.
Expect biometric checks before the race. Ex-servicemen skip the race, but the board still records their height, chest and weight.
Next steps
- The CAPFs will hold the PET/PST. CRPF, the nodal force, will issue call letters, and SSC points candidates to rect.crpf.gov.in. Admit cards should appear about two weeks before the test. The CRPF helpline is 011-26160255.
- Those who pass go to medical examination and document verification, about two candidates per vacancy.
- Final selection uses CBE marks with NCC bonus, for those who clear every stage. SSC allots forces by that merit and the force preferences in your form.
